Today the weather was so nice. The middle of the afternoon and I was going to waste the day going home to take a nap. Walking down my block I had to make my way through the kids playing outside. All on the sidewalks and into the streets, screaming their happy kid screams.

There was a man nodding off to sleep on his porch. He didn’t want to miss the nice sun and that cool breeze because of a little sleepiness. But when I got closer to him the first things I noticed where the tissues stained bright red, a big wad clutched in his hand that was resting on the ground next to him. I was trying to see where he was bleeding from, still walking the same pace down the sidewalk. All this blood was pooled on the ground and when I followed it up wet paint red was still pouring from his nose. Slosh, slosh. The way wetness splashes when it meets wetness.

I walked past him, paused infront of the next house on the block. Just for a second. The time it took me to rock back on my heels and look around. There were so many kids. I had to spit on the sidewalk because my stomach wouldn’t let me swallow.

I went to Monster Jam, a monster truck show, at the new Cowboys stadium with my uncle and little cousin for my birthday. I drank a Miller Lite out of a plastic bottle.

The beer cost $8.50.

From Oakland to Salt Lake City my flight was filled with squares; polo shirt wearin’, lots of hairspray Southwestern types on their way to the Mormon mecca. And the flight attendant, one of the same, wouldn’t talk to me.

From Salt Lake City to Dallas I sat behind this woman and across the aisle from her a man reading the bible. She started a conversation with him, How do I lead my gay friend to Christ?

My Grandma was waiting for me by the gate when I left the terminal. My Grandpa was sitting down on a bench by the luggage carasil and didn’t get up until Grandma was done using the bathroom. They both were not happy with how I smelled, they told me when we got back to their house. I Was Staying At This Warehouse In San Fransisco! Jeez! The dog waited outside the bathroom door while I took a shower.

Hannah and I keep using the word “hard” to describe when we have to leave for the airport.

When we’re together we’re notoriously late for things and with the snowy weather flights have been delayed and ours is overbooked. And we haaaave to makkkkke it.

So we’re leaving at a hard Noon, to get to the airport a hard two hours before our flight leaves, which means we have a another hour and half, hard, before we have to LEAVE FOR SAN FRANCISCO!

Go hard.
